MA State Inspection
At T&M Automotive, we are an authorized facility for Massachusetts State Vehicle Inspections. You can trust our highly qualified team to deliver the best inspection service possible for your vehicle.
Today in the United States, transportation is the largest contributor to the problem of greenhouse gases and climate change. With more than four and a half million cars, SUVs, buses and trucks registered in Massachusetts, it is vital for our own health and for the health of our environment to have vehicle emissions tested annually. Equally important is the safety standard of vehicles on the road. A small issue like a crack in a windshield or a blown headlight might not seem like a big deal until it’s too late and there has been an accident of some kind. This is why the Massachusetts vehicle test has been enforced for all vehicles on the road in our state.
At T&M Automotive we want to ensure that your car is properly inspected. Our state licensed inspectors will first visually inspect the outside of the car to make sure there are no obvious problems such as cracked windshield or leaking gas. After passing the initial visual inspection the vehicle ID number will be matched with the active registration and then our technicians will begin the emissions and safety tests.
A number of criteria are checked by the technicians and results are printed on the Vehicle Inspection Report (VIR), which you will receive when the inspection is completed. The VIR will provide our technician the information they need to diagnose any problems with the vehicle and to offer you the best advice on how you can repair any issues found. There are fourteen key areas in the safety test which usually take about twelve minutes to complete. As soon as the full test is completed our inspection computer will print out a sticker and a readout of the test results.
COMMERCIAL INSPECTION
At T&M Automotive our experienced and knowledgeable team conducts the Massachusetts Commercial Vehicle Inspection. Our facility is the only commercial inspection station serving Northern Berkshire County. Our licensed professionals are ready to answer any questions you may have regarding your vehicle inspection and guide you through the entire process with ease.
All commercial vehicles, trailers and converter dollies must complete the Massachusetts Commercial Vehicle Inspection successfully. This inspection has been approved by the Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration (FMCSA) and is considered an equivalent to their annual inspection, also known as the ‘DOT’ Inspection. If your vehicle successfully completes the Massachusetts Commercial Vehicle Inspection, then you do not have to obtain a separate FMCSA or ‘DOT’ inspection. As an authorized FMCSA or ‘DOT’ inspection facility, you can bring your vehicle to our garage at T&M Automotive to have all safety and emissions tests completed by our certified technicians.
Commercial vehicles registered in Massachusetts must pass an emissions test annually. This test is conducted together with the annual state safety inspection of the vehicle. Should your commercial vehicle fail this test, a re-test must be passed within sixty days of the first vehicle inspection. Our team will provide you with the best advice and guidance on passing your commercial vehicle emissions test. The emissions tests your vehicle will be subjected to depend on the vehicle’s GVWR and also the vehicle’s fuel type.
At our facility off Curran Highway in North Adams Massachusetts, we are dedicated to providing you with a fast, efficient testing service. We understand that you must take time out of your schedule in order to have the testing completed and we do everything in our power to ensure the process is completed as quickly as possible.
